Priding myself on my mastery of the vernacular, I was quick to point out to my loving wife that there is no such word as dysmorphia, because it's not in the dictionary. Characteristically, she nodded indulgently at my superciliousness, knowing, of course, that dysmorphia is, in fact, a real word.
Luckily for me, my wife spares me the "I told you so's". But if "I told you so's" were nickels, I would have made her a rich woman many times over.
Yes, you are correct...ROFL=rolling on floor laughing
I wish that somehow our family could just manage to survive on two or three outfits a week. Would make those laundry piles a lot smaller. Currently, though, my girls go through two or three outfits a day - and that's when we're just spending the day at home! Drives me bonkers sometimes, hehe.
how to effute my praise without sounding overly effusive...? i have only yesterday discovered this sketch journal of yours. i saw superviolet (to which ethe immediately said, very dryly "she's in an egg, floating in space"), but had not seen all. it inspires me. i feel like i'm with you. thanks so much for sharing this with all of us. when my boys were small i would write down little things they would say and reading it made me feel blessed. i'm sure this does the same for you- taking stock... keep em comin.
Ditto a million times over. Wild rumpus most heartily!!! Mucho amore to Pearl!!!!!!!!!! It's only been YEARS, but I still think of you. Do you know both of my children say "I Loley"!? The other day driving home from ST. Louis, Jeff & I heard James Taylor. I was immediately transported to being 16, dancing in the back room at Stephie's old house in Brentwood with Stephie & Pearl. WARM FUZZY!! I miss all of you so, & hope to see you somehow, someday- maybe I could meet up with one of the Tennessee rendezvous(es) [how do you pluralize rendezvous?]. I want all of our babies to meet one another. How yummy!!!!
Yep!! My journals are treasures to me, too; & now Reed even sometimes asks me to read them to him as bedtime stories. I love that he loves them. (& I love that Stephie is sharing hers!! It is inspiring!)
p.s.s.s.----kim, lily does wardrobe changed several times a day too. it doesn't usually bother me (i remember doing that myself at that age) but lloyd is appalled. in spite of that, lily always seems to be naked???
we need to have a party! you all should come up for a long girl's weekend. we could go in together for hotel rooms, and frolic all weekend long in nyc! i'm really good at showing people around.
mucho smoocho amore to yu jodi. oh i think of you so often too. sometimes i'll pull a treasured old book off a shelf and there will be sweet doodles or a beautiful card from you. yu always sent me the most precious epistles. i so wish life could have stayed like that time. i think i keep trying to reach that place again of comfort and peace and idealism. warmfuzzy indeed!! and you have two boys same as me. aint that sumthin. stephie look what yu've done with your cyber endeavors. i think what yu crave most as an artistsisterfriendwifeladyperson is to bring people together for mutual admiration and inspiration and yu've done that here. oh dear, i just became blahblahwordy and frighteningly Dickensesque (cant help it lloyd-hemingway doesnt do it for me) so i must away. ROCKIN IDEA THIS PARTY. COME ON GIRLS. WE CAN MAKE THAT HAPPEN, RIGHT?
OOOOOH! Happy I am!!! Yes- Stephie has created some kind o' lovely magic here!! I miss both of you & enjoy reading everyone's posts. Hope to meet all sometime! Pearl- you haven't changed. I love that. Neither has Stephie. Neither have I. When I saw Stephie's drawings & handwriting, it was like reading a language I hadn't read for so long, but we can all still speake (Dickens-y typo) it just as well as ever.
Actually Pearl, I have one boy (James Reed- goes by Reed. He is 5), and a girl (Morrin Abril, who is 3). How old are your boys? What are their names? Tell tell.
I'm so glad my "epistles" live on. Sweet, sweet. I am a keeper of all such mementos, too.
Kisses to Stephie & Pearl!!!!!!! (and all the "babies" I've not yet met!)
Love and hugs to Pearl...I don't get to see you much but I think of you often:) Jodi - I'm not sure if we know each other. You sound like a lovely (and creative!) person:) Michelle is a wonderful online friend I've known for years. (Psst..Michelle - I remember how badly you wanted a baby back long ago and how you had to wait until your hubs was ready...seems like yesterday, huh?!)
Michelle - Pearl,Stephie, Jewlover and I were childhood friends. I lived out in a rural area of Tennessee and their Papa Nick and grandmother Haleen were my neighbors. Sometimes when Bev (Pearl) and Steph and Ashlee (JewLover) came to visit, we would get together. Remember climbing Naked Knob (or Whipped Cream Mountain), girls?) It was Pearl who introduced me to Enya. Hehe, Steph is going to kill me, but I remember that she had a brief interest in a boy in our congregation. I ended up marrying him years later, lol!
Those were good times. Sweet. Innocent. No responsibilities or real worries. Someone push rewind.
Amen Sistahs!! I love the "wild rumpus". I don't know most of you. Greetings Ashlee! Not sure if you remember me or not. We met when Stephie still lived in FL. Long, long ago.... I hope Lacie joins, too. I look forward to knowing all of you better. How great for you, Kim, to grow up next to Papa Nick & Haleen- two amazing, dear people. I got to know & love them during the time they lived in St. Louis. If anyone talks to Haleen, please give her my love & kisses!!
OH yeah- I'm wetting my feet on this blog thing, & just began my own little humble blog-endeavor. If anyone wants to pop in, that would be dandy!
jodi-i have a file folder full of precious letters from you!
lacey now lives in NYC! how cool is that? she just did my hair the other day, and we had a lovely evening out.
haleen lives in memphis now, which is where both my mom and ashley's mom lives. i will send her your love. she is still truckin along, and is on the pioneer infirm list.
kim- let's get it out in the open, shall we? yes i liked your brother when i was 12. there, i said it. it was you who had him bewitched, though. are we gonna get the kids together this week or what??
michelle- we are glad you are here! you and i should have lunch sometime in the city. we live so close!
pearl- i love your dickensonian prattle. i can't wait to see you maybe wednesday or thursday night?
ashley- can't wait to see you and get our little ones together.
Lol, just to clear any confusion, Stephie meant my future *husband* (Jeff - a brother in my home congregation)- not my *brother* brother, hehe...My brother was like...6?) I *do* live in Tennessee where I'm sure some have married their own siblings, rofl, but I'm pretty certain I'm not my brother's type:)
Oh, I wanted to mention that I have plans to take the girls to see Curious George on Monday. If you guys haven't made plans, you're welcome to join us and we could also do something fun afterwards...Just a thought!
i'm not sure WHAT i was thinking there. it's weird too, since my own brother's name is jeff. wow. anyway, i think i was thinking about how james and jeff are brothers, and james and i wrote letters for awhile...or something.
curious george sounds like fun, why don't you email me the time, and place, and i'll see if we can make it.
Kim, I DO remember Whipped Cream Mountain! I was so thrilled to have climbed it and felt like 'joe-hiker' or something. The funniest thing was that little Jolie is the one who got to the top first. We buried stuff up there. Wonder if our 'time capsule' has survived the years?
We ALL had a crush on a Carthage boy at one time or another, didnt we? Bev was enamoured of a certain JC for a while who wrote very lenghty love notes full of song lyrics. And I was all but obsessed w/ Jon, as we all know. Whew! Isn't 'time and unforseen occurence' a good thing on occasion?
Haleen is still a wonder. She has the same spunk and tenacity as before. She happens to have some type of a crush on my husband also, which is funny as can be. Love you all!
One thing I remember about Whipped Cream Mountain was Tobi drinking the creek water. Most of us were a little grossed out by the water because of all the algae in it, but we was telling us that it was good for us, lol! I also remember being scared to death of the bulls in the field:)
Dear Haleen!! I love it! My Grandma always gets a little glint in her eyes & comments on this or that "nice young man". Her name is Gertrude & my husband calls her "Flirty Gertie". Lol

A woman's work is never done!
lol...my laundry room looks like that right now....LITERALLY (well, almost).
I have been holding off on laundry for two weeks...it's really...really...BAD.
ROFL!!!! Oh, I *so* understand! Ugh! This week, I've been burying my head in books, hoping that the giant piles will just magically disappear!

1.in our house i have lots of help with the laundry, but it still seems such a huge job that i procrastinate.
2.what does ROFL stand for?-rolling on the floor laughing?
3.the dysmorphia website mentions that people with body dysmorphia may avoid socializing as a result.
thus:
laundry percieved as a too-large burden>>>procrastination>>smelly clothes>>>little or no social life.
there you have it.
Yes, you are correct...ROFL=rolling on floor laughing

what makes me feel blessed is to have all my friends here to chat with. and now that pearl has joined our ranks, our party is complete.
"let the wild rumpus start!"
wait a minute, where is lacey??? we need her too. and ray. and natalie. and shannon. hello???

back then it was such an accomplishment for all of us to be in the same room together that it was heaven when it did happen!
p.s. i'm not much of a muse, but i amuse myself all the time
p.s.s.---james taylor always immediately transports me to my old pink bedroom with the windows open, and the smell of tea roses.
p.s.s.s.----kim, lily does wardrobe changed several times a day too. it doesn't usually bother me (i remember doing that myself at that age) but lloyd is appalled. in spite of that, lily always seems to be naked???
I'm back for the party! woot-woot!
