N-A-K-E-D! what a lovely image. bears little resemblance to what nesting looked like for me. i was wearing this enormous hippy skirt and painting my bedroom red because i just had to have a beautiful place to be when i brought number two home. it turned out very sweet with a little rocking crib at the foot of the bed. the red walls were oddly soothing even tho people say the opposite is true. maybe that's why he's such a wild one to this day. i still keep the socks i was wearing to paint in with red splattered on them to remember the nesting time. stephie, only you could come up with such an ethereal and surreal rendering of such a time. i love yu for that.
Me again!! I love this so much, I keep coming back & looking at it!!Makes me happy in a serene way, looking back on being pregnant, which I loved do dearly!! It reminds me of the birth announcements for REed. I'll show you sometime.
thanks gurls! i had fun making this one. it didn't turn out exactly the way i wanted, i wanted a more art neuveau look, but i can always do it again later.
can you tell the wings are tied on? lloyd couldn't tell, he said it was a pregnant fairy. but that's ok, too. i had thought of adding a bird's beak mask, but it was a little much.
I know how it feels to have a vision & not see it come to fruition the way you could see it in your mind's eye. Nonetheless, you have created a beautiful, gripping image of which people (me at least) have an emotional response. It may not be so highly stylized as many art nouveau pieces, but it is in the same spirit. I love it, & tells a story along with SuperViolet. And yes- I saw right away that her wings are tied on. I'm glad you left the mask off. Are you familiar with Nick Bantock's "Griffin & Sabine"?
lloyd bought me a coupla those books, and we really loved them. the art was so unbelieveable! and the story was so gripping. i never read the last few books, though.
Just got back from Stephanie Martin's (formerly Qualls) baby shower! The mom to be was GAAAARRRGEOUS having gained only a small basketball and perfect breasts during her pregnancy. She highlighted said basketball w/ a super fitted shirt, silver hip-belt placed strategically beneath the bulge and black gaucho pants. She received a nauseating ammount of equally gorgeous gifts and tells all her know her that I should say 'hi'.
I love your interpretation of nesting, Stephie. I loved that part.
