this is the first of six small watercolor postcards, done with watercolor pencils. i used them for thank you cards to friends who were so thoughtful and generous at violet's baby showers.

rather than being reflections of myself, they were inspired by the uniqueness of each of my friends, and that's what made this project so satisfying.

i found that the size of a postcard is the PERFECT size for a fast painting because they can finished in an hour or two. so if you want to paint, but think you don't have the time, try painting postcards!

if you like them, please use them to print some cards of your own :0)

That's beautiful! I have to really experiment with my watercolor pencils. I bought a pack fo those watercolor postcards on an England trip once. I only made one get well card for a friend and haven't made anythign since. People really do appreciate when you take time out to make them something!

Jonathan swears by watercolor pencils but I haven't even tried them. I'm looking for different mediums, though. I've decided to start my own brand of 'pin up ' art since I'm such a huge fan of Elvgren, Runci, Vargas, etc. I'll keep you posted.

The detail onthat chair is amazing! Papa would be proud.

Stephie do you remember staying at that family's house for Chad Middlebrooks' wedding where we stopped on our way to New York back in 1992? I just had a dream about that! I remember we had a room all to ourselves at this strange witness family's house and we had just bought an 'actors scenebook' and were doing scenes together? You had this HILARIOUS scene. I won't say too much but it involved 'popping buttons'. You had me in stitches! And then you sang your 'peanut butter ' song to boot! LOL

parts of that trip were sooo much fun. do you remember impersonations of "eyegore" from young frankenstein?LOL

i think that happened in the middle of a long stay at your house. i remember that they had a huge, beautiful home. what made you think of that?

I had a dream about it. Funny, I don't remember anything about that house on my own, but when I dreamed it was so detailed-smells, sheets, curtains. Wierd.

Yes, I remember eygore...how could I not? LOL

Beautiful picture of you, by the way. Very representative of the real you. I find that lately I don't wear makeup very much either. I do lip gloss daily but that's about it. So when I do get 'gussied up', I tend to really enjoy make-up. I adore thick black eyeliner (on lid) and red lipstick.
