Exquisite! This may be one of the best of your mini-works you've posted here. I didn't realize you could eat them. Do you eat the bulb? Greens? Flowers? All of the above? Have you tried them? Enough questions for you? LOL
Are you familiar with the bulb, fritillaria? (Probably one of my fave bulbs)I planted some tiny purplish-mauve checkered ones & also some large bold orange ones. They smelled OBNOXIOUSLY like onions when I planted them & even noticably smelly when they bloomed. Beautiful enough that I didn't mind, tho'. It didn't occur to me to bring them to the table. I'll have to research whether they're edible. I could have lots of fun if they are!
Just last night the kids & I planted some [probably over-priced] paperwhites that I'd ordered from Reed's school's fundraiser. I planted them in a pretty robins'egg blue Italian pot that I had. Hopefully they'll bring a bit of verdant cheer to our winter gray.
i learned about their edibility from the clan of the cave bear booksm where the hunter-gatherers had to know...what to gather. i think you mostly eat the bulbs, but i'm sure the rest wouldn't kill you, though i would do your own research before you go eating them, ok? eeek. what if i'm wrong?
your robins-egg-planter sounds lovely! i adore paperwhites
